Tom Williams, an Apprentice Chef in The George’s acclaimed Pescatore Restaurant, has taken out 1st place in one of the South Island Hospitality Show’s Southern Stars Competitions held in Christchurch on 21 & 22 June. The competitions are a highlight of the show where chefs go head to head in a series of cook-offs competing for prizes in either the Regal Marlborough Salmon Young Culinary Professional Competition (for chefs under 24 years) or the Nestle Professional Southern Stars Culinary Challenge (for chefs 24 years and over). Renowned for its international culinary reputation, The George has two award winning restaurants Pescatore and 50 On Park. General Manager Bruce Garrett was delighted that once again a member of The George’s team was recognised to be at the forefront of New Zealand’s food scene.
