Mainland Regional Competition 2012
ARDENZ (Association of Rooms Division Executives of New Zealand) held their annual Mainland Regional contest of the 2012 Receptionist of the Year competition in Christchurch on Friday 27 July. The Hotel Receptionist of the Year competition is made up of five individual regional competitions, from which, two representatives are selected to compete in the National final.
Congratulations must go to Bianca Constantinescu and Nikoletta Hollo, both of The George Christchurch, who took out first place and first runner up respectively. This means that they are both eligible to compete in the national title, held in Christchurch on Saturday 29 September. The winner of the national title will then go on to Rome to compete for the David Campbell Trophy and title of ‘International Hotel Receptionist of the Year’ in January 2013.
The competition includes technical and product based questions as well as fictitious scenarios that may play out in a typical receptionist shift. Marks are awarded by a panel of four judges for the answers to direct questions and for conduct and confidence, interpretation, negotiation and sales skills, problem solving and guest relations displayed in the scenario section.
The George is very proud of Bianca and Nikoletta’s performance which is testament to their commitment and dedication to their chosen careers and the high level of training provided at The George.
