Widely accepted as “The Oscars of the Travel Industry”, World Travel Awards celebrates its’ 20th Anniversary this year and is recognised globally as the ultimate travel accolade, its aim to celebrate those brands that are pushing the boundaries of industry excellence.
At an awards ceremony in Dubai the recipients were praised for their efforts to set the highest possible bar to raise the standards of excellence in travel and tourism. As such The George is delighted to have been voted New Zealand’s Leading Boutique Hotel 2013.
The awards are voted for by travel and tourism professionals worldwide and the accolade recognises the commitment to excellence The George has demonstrated once more. Competition for the award is fierce with rivals such as Huka Lodge & Eichardts. Nonetheless, The George has previously received the honour seven times over the last eight years.
Furthermore, The George was again nominated for Australasia’s leading boutique hotel 2013, a title it received in 2010 and was also named #1 City Hotel in New Zealand in the Travel + Leisure World’s Best Hotels Awards 2013. As such General Manager, Bruce Garrett, is gratified to know that his team have been able to continue delivering a world class hotel experience to its guests and that it still has support from the travel industry which can only be positive for Christchurch.
Other winners include, Air New Zealand as Australasia’s Leading Airline, together with Leading Airline Lounge for the Koru Lounge, Christchurch.
