Top 10 hotels in New Zealand for 2024

An apartment hotel in Wellington has been named the best in the country in the annual Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best awards.

The Sojourn in Newtown came out on top with a five-star bubble rating from more than 550 reviews. It also finished eighth overall in the South Pacific region.

The 43-room hotel describes itself as “modernity meets minimalism” in an “urban oasis”. Last year, it finished third in the annual ranking.

In second is The George Christchurch, followed by three Auckland hotels – the Park Hyatt, M Social and The Hotel Britomart, which was last year’s top ranked accommodation.

In the other categories, Lakeside Apartments in Wānaka was named the best luxury accommodation in New Zealand and the best small and boutique hotel, while the Arcadia Lodge in Russell topped the B&B rankings. The Bay of Islands accommodation also finished second in the whole South Pacific region behind Yarra Gables in Healesville, Australia.
